About this blog

Cooler @ the Water Cooler

In the fall of 2008 I did a presentation for credit unions at Central 1′s Fall Conference. It was about some cool ideas, concepts and words that credit unions could use in their marketing and operations. It too was called ‘Cooler @ The Water Cooler’. This is just another forum for me to express these ideas. That being said, I will make the standard statement that this blog is in no way affiliated with Central 1, and that the crazy views and opinions expressed here of my own making.

  1. Hey, Martin —

    Being a little “late to the party” as is often the case for me, I just discovered your blog, thanks to a link that Yee-Guan put in Newsbytes on March 19. Blogs are a great way to get ideas “out there” on an ad-hoc basis — good for you for getting yours going. Any idea if there are other Central 1′ers (or whatever we are called) who have blogs relating to their work?

    I love the quote from Jefferson, but there is a somewhat Freudian typo in it, with the second “mine” being “mime”. I have always thought that mimes were quite enlightening, with their elimination of noise and elegance of intentional movement.

    “He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine;
    as he who lights his candle at mime, receives light without darkening me.”
    Thomas Jefferson, 1813

    I’ll also be interested to know how quickly you see this message — with the variety and intensity of communication these days, I’m sure your many “inboxes” are on overload!

    Cheers from down the hall — Diane W.
